Art Critique!

1.       DESCRIBE: What do you see?
I see a depressing photo. It has suicide written all over it.

2.        ANALYZE:  How is the work composed (use art terms! Ex: value, shape, line, texture, color)
There’s a painting on the plain grey walls, and I see a brown cabinet. Along with red sheet which must be the victim’s blood. The ground looks rough like its tile but the room could be a jail cell.

3.        INTERPRET:  What message does the artwork communicate to you? (What is going on?  What was the artist trying to tell the world?  What is the overall mood?  Is it making fun?  Is it serious?) The mood of this is somber and suspicious. It makes me think what happened, why has this person decided to take their life, or did they take their life. Was it a set up? The world is a crazy place and each second is not guaranteed.

4.        JUDGE:  What do you think of this work?  Is it successful?  (The “couch test” question):
This work portrays a strong message to me. In the category of death and mystery but I could not want it on my wall. I like happy things and this somber painting wouldn’t match my style.
